Band Bio
The Soultown Band started in 2018 at the request of a local club owner to put together a show that featured Motown music. John & Roxanne Mann had a 5 piece band (Roxanne & the Voodoo Rockers) playing Blues and Classic Rock, so this was the foundation of the new show. On the ride home from the club, John realized that in order to do the music justice, the band would need additional vocalists, and a complete horn section and keyboardist. So we recruited 2 additional vocalists, Tammy Francis and Carol Townsend, and trumpet and trombone players to compliment our sax player. So five became eleven !
The Soultown Band's musical focus is the greatest hits from Motown Records, Stax Records and Muscle Shoals Records. Some of the artists we honor include Smokey Robinson, The Supremes, Gladys Knight & the Pips, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Booker T & the MG's, Otis Redding, The Bar-Kays, Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett, Staple Singers, Stevie Wonder among many other great artists.
